Mrs William Briggle Killed By Freight Train
Mrs William Briggle was instantly killed when struck by a Euro freight train near Beresford while crossing the track in a buggy. She had been Christmas shopping and was returning to the farm with five of her children at home and two from a prior marriage. The engineer testified the horse bolted into the path, the emergency brake failed, and the neck was broken in the post mortem. The Briggle family, once from nearby Ireton, was respected in the community.

J D Browning, general manager of the Sioux City and Ireton Interurban, visited Rock Valley to gauge stockholder interest and secure a franchise. The council pledged no opposition to ROW through SRV property and operations will begin on the Rock Valley to Treton line, then Rock Valley to Dean. A separate case against Rock Valley granted a permanent injunction against a ditch on W J McLean’s farm, with costs split between parties.
