Large Structure on Fanning Farm Destroyed by Fire
Barn on the Fanning farm east of town burned Thursday evening with unknown cause. Four driving horses perished in the flames along with hay and miscellaneous losses. Funeral services for Mrs. Morgan were held at the M E church Friday conducted by Rev. J A Edwards and A Wallace. The church was crowded with friends and relatives. Flowers adorned the casket and two sheaves of wheat symbolized the decedent’s life. Relatives from out of town attended including Morgan of Shodon Nebraska, Morgan of Toledo Iowa, Mrs Ward of Chicago, and others from Hawn and Ames.

Grandma Black remembered as county's elder matriarch
Anna Black of Indiana reports the death at nearly 95 of Grandma Black, matriarch of the county and mother of postmaster L. M. Black. Born April 23, 1812 in North Carolina, she lived on farms near Graensboro and Milton before moving to town.
