Man convicted of manslaughter in Hawarden incident
James Andrews, formerly awaiting appeal, to serve two and a half years in Anamosa penitentiary for the fatal shooting of Charles O Conner during a crowd incident on Aug 21 1888 after a dance in Hawarden. Bondsmen released him after fear of flight. He faced trial in Orange City and was unpopularly blamed for the death. In a separate note Jock Tagalis lost to Dick Terpia in a Ft. Dodge bout with Ingalls injuring a forearm.
