Weekly market updates from Orange City feature prices on corn meal butter potatoes and flour with notices of local business moves including a Singer Sewing Machine agent and building changes on Main Street. Community events include church services political meetings and a balloon ascent planned by Prof Ver Steeg amid electric franchise news and local accidents.
Andrew Sherrod, aged about 60, collapsed and died of apoplexy this afternoon while at work in the post office building. He had been assisting with brick loading, grew ill, and expired before medical aid. He leaves a wife and several children, with burial expected in Pennsylvania. The community extends sympathy to the family.
Residents vote to schedule a grand Fourth of July celebration in Ireton with a grove event not to be missed. A featured speaker will open the evening with a broad display of amusements and fireworks, aiming to be the county’s finest show. Another meeting is set for Friday evening for all to attend.
A large Memorial Day procession formed on Main Street in Ireton led by the Teton Cornet Band. Despite wind gusts the event moved to the cemetery for G A R services and graves of soldiers, then returned to town for ceremonies.
The regular monthly meeting at the Drs Mosher and Beckwith office had full attendance. The attest commissioner was authorized to proceed with drainage work and to buy two road stripers for street work. Bills allowed include BVM Slagle & Co and JH Queal & Co. The council adjourned to meet again on Tuesday evening, June 6.

John Funston of Granite Iowa reports a missing white gelding year three with red ball ring halter and dehorned from Rock Valley road around May 1891. Also announces Western Iowa’s Great Annual Reunion to be held at Correctionville June 17 18 1891 inviting soldiers sailors veterans and families with camp grounds along the Little Sioux River.
An old ad copy markets De Witt's Little Risers as small pills for liver stomach and bowel disorders. It notes fashion to use them and mentions Hoffman & Go as sellers.
