Lloyd McCutcheon Dies After Surgery In Cedar Rapids
Lloyd McCutcheon editor of the Mt. Vernon Record died Saturday at St. Mary's Hospital Cedar Rapids from complications after an appendectomy. A Mt. Vernon native, he owned and ran multiple papers including the Mt. Vernon Record and Hawkeye and held plants at Lisbon and Marion.

Durian of Wellman Hurt in Pony Accident
H W Durian of Wellman was thrown from a pony when the animal slipped on freshly oiled streets. He was pinned under the pony for some time and sustained a severe bruise to a limb but no broken bones. He may be out of work for a few weeks.

Petition for Ainsworth town incorporation found
John Applegate returned the original 1892 petition filed by Ainsworth voters asking the District Court for articles of incorporation. The document, signed by W. R. Jeffrey, W. A. Walker and others now deceased, was found among Moothart papers and will be returned to Ainsworth for historical value.

Wonderful success for new industry in Riverside County
The first tomato growing season in Riverside and vicinity ended with the last shipment on October 5. About 1,213,957 pounds or 607 tons were shipped by 24 growers at $14 a ton, totaling roughly $8,500. Fifty eight carloads went to Muscatine and some smaller lots elsewhere. Future participation by farmers in another season is likely.
