Mrs J A Wehr Dies After Illness in Iowa Home
Mrs J A Wehr died Friday afternoon at her home on B Second Street after a long illness sparked by influenza. Born Ella Walker November 15 1863 in Illinois she lived in Indiana Wisconsin Iowa and finally Washington. She married J A Wehr December 29 1886 and lived near Haskins before moving two years ago to Washington. She leaves five children Owen Albert Ralph Mae and Mrs Donald Ross, plus four brothers and five sisters. Funeral Sunday at 2 PM at the Presbyterian Church with burial in Elm Grove Cemetery.

Two Basketball Games Set for Tomorrow Night
Basketball fans await two fast paced games on the local floor tomorrow night with the Kalona Independents visiting the "Y" team. The prior meeting ended in overtime after a tie through four quarters and Kalona is bolstering its lineup with Iowa City college players. The "Y" team, led by Carlton and Marshall at forwards Waymack at center and McKinstry and Davis as guards, will be joined by substitutes White Kelsey Fisher and Winja. Preceding the main game, Crawfordsville eighth grade and Junior High teams meet. Games begin at 8 30 with tickets 25 and 35 cents. The volleyball league crowns a champion with a banquet for members and spouses. The league eyeing a late month clash with Kewanee. Prof. Davis plans an indoor circus mid May featuring tumbling by the Kelsey brothers in a leading act.

Obituary of Dr C A Morrison in Wheatland Wyoming
The Wheatland Times reports the death of Dr C A Morrison on March 3 in Wheatland Wyoming from heart disease. A longtime public figure, he served on the school board the Wyoming Assembly and the Wheatland Chamber of Commerce and aided railway spurs and beet sugar projects. He died after a late night at a school board meeting and a planned early morning visit with Supt Thrasher. He was brother to Mrs J E Buttler of Washington and Mrs M Thompson. Howard Sigafoose recovered from surgery and returns home improving.

Yesterday afternoon a court room audience watched two naturalization applications proceed. New Service Club To Be Formed To Replace Lions

Joseph Finney Dies At H C Finney Home
Joseph Finney died at his son H C Finney’s home in Ainsworth after weeks of illness from two paralytic strokes. He was 86 and would have turned 87 on April 8. Funeral services are set for 11 a m tomorrow at Jones and McElhinney Chapel. J M Finney of Monmouth and J D Finney of Des Moines visit. Mrs Finney and three daughters travel tomorrow. A full obituary will be published next week.

Accident Narrows Escape for R. G. Vincent
Northwest of town R. G. Vincent was injured in a hayloft fall while working in the timber. He slipped and nearly dropped to the floor but escaped serious harm, with a knee injury and the ability to move about.

Death of 83 Year Old Man in Burlington Farm
The Burlington Hawkeye reports the death of William Magel aged eighty three at the home of his son in law and daughter Mr and Mrs Allen Barnett six miles west of Burlington. He was a lifelong Des Moines County resident and grandfather of Mrs L B Lupton. Magel died on the farm where he had lived thirty six years after heart trouble. He had been visiting his daughter prior to his death.

Large Attendance at C. E. Convention Highlighted by Key Addresses
Miss Catherine Kissoon of Jamaica and Dr Ganfield delivered major talks at the C. E. Convention held last week drawing intense interest. Kissoon, a Penn senior bound for five years of medical and hospital work in Jamaica, spoke on her Hindu heritage and indentured parents in Jamaica. Jamaica’s cosmopolitan mix and the unfamiliarity of indentured servitude outside U S history were noted as she reflected on cultural diversity and communication challenges in America.

Mrs Fitzwater Dies After Long Illness in Washington
Mrs. James Fitzwater, an elder resident of Washington, died at 5:20 p.m. Friday at the home of Mrs. J. T. Risk on West Main Street after years of illness and two strokes. She was born Mary Elizabeth Guzeman on July 30, 1848, married James Fitzwater December 24, 1868, and lived on farms near Ainsworth, Crawfordsville, and Washington. Survived by two sisters and three brothers, she was active in the Methodist Church and cared for by Mrs. Risk the past two years. Funeral was held at the South Iowa home with Rev. F. W. Eastwood officiating.

Robert Clyde Dies at Home After Stroke
Robert Clyde died at his North Avenue B home Thursday after a stroke of paralysis left him unconscious since Sunday morning March 8. Born November 18, 1852 in Lycoming County Penn he married Elizabeth Louise Brown in 1872 and two sons survived. A piano tuner by trade and long time member of the Methodist Church he served as secretary of the Rev W R Stryker class and remained active in church duties until ill health. Funeral services were held Friday at 2 30 p m from his residence with burial in Elm Grove Cemetery.

Sheriff seizes bootleg whisky in Illinois car near Ollie
A Cadillac with Illinois plates was stopped by the sheriff and three deputies. They found twenty two gallons of whisky and related containers valued at 400 to 500 dollars. Seth Melott, from near Peoria, was fined 300 dollars and jailed three months after a trial. The other two men were released. The still had been raided earlier by federal agents.
