Fire at Milwaukee Depot Damages Roof After Sparks
Sparks from a passing engine touched off a small blaze at the Milwaukee depot last Thursday afternoon. The fire damaged the roof on the north side but was checked by firefighters using chemicals and water. A large crowd gathered to watch, followed by a performance by the sixty piece Grotto Band from the TriCities before the alarm rang and spectators dispersed.

Harrison Allender father of Mrs Ralph Junkin died Monday night at the Junkin home after a weeks long cancerous illness. Born in 1855 in Ohio he moved to Illinois then Washington county settling in Seventy-Six township. Survived by wife Mary B Stouffer later deceased and three children Ralph Junkin Harry Allender and Mrs Pond. Funeral conducted at Keota Christian church by Rev Telford of Ft Madison.

Reunion at Sutherlands Draws Four Living Siblings Together
A reunion today at William Sutherland's home gathers the four surviving siblings of a family of ten. The youngest, Mrs. Sutherland, is 76. others are Mrs. John Parks 82, Mrs. Evan Davis 84, and Henry Davis 86. Their Welsh parents left home as Mrs. Sutherland was a child, crossing for six weeks by boat. the mother died at sea.
