Luther Cortney Denison died at six this morning at his North Avenue C home after a stomach cancer battle dating from last November. Born May 21 1858 near Riverview Iowa he lived in Brighton before moving to Washington 23 years ago. Survived by his widow and several children and stepchildren from Iowa Colorado Montana and Washington, funeral planned Friday at 10:30 at Jones McElhinney parlors. Grace Anderson of Des Moines is among mourners returning home today.

Alex Miller Begins Year-Long Chautauqua Lecture Tour
Alex Miller formerly publisher of The Democrat and now Washington postmaster starts a year long contract with the Redpath Vawter Chautauqua system. He will spend about fourteen weeks on the Chautauqua platform this summer and twenty weeks next winter delivering his lecture The Other Side of Main Street. Miller, a popular speaker in Iowa and Washington county, plans a route through Minnesota, the Dakotas, Iowa, with possible stops in Illinois and Nebraska. He has a paid leave of absence from his post office duties.
