C H Morton was elected president of the local Y s Men club at a noon meeting by unanimous vote for the next semester. Claude W Tucker was chosen vice president and Harold Tolander re elected secretary treasurer. Three new board members Everett Griffith Leland Morrison and W F Bickel were elected with remaining directors Theodore Brown Harry Kreider and J Elliot Grayson continuing. The club praised retiring president Dr Cloyce B Kerr for his growth of the organization.

Hornet's Nest Brigade Reunion at Perry Deepens Civil War Ties
The Hornet's Nest Brigade met for a Perry reunion June 24 and 25 as Col. D. J. Palmer and Gen. Hiram Schofield recalled Shiloh memories. About 800 veterans attended free events with banquets and civic group support, planning a 1926 return. Separate Spanish-American War veterans gathered in Marshalltown with a Soldiers' Home dinner attended by 800. Judge Willett spoke at the Soldiers' Home Grounds.

Missouri Soldiers Visit City After Chicago Convention
A truck load of Grant City Missouri soldiers spent a short time in town on Saturday. They toured for auto supplies and met locals after attending the M W A Convention in Chicago. The group belonged to the 2nd Battalion 1st Regiment Missouri Camp and fifty one attended the encampment which drew about six thousand people.

County Health Clinics Boost Tonsil Adenoid Removals

Izaak Walton League Plans to Beautify Reservoir
Izaak Walton League members secured permission from Rock Island railroad to use the reservoir in the west town area. They aim to remove carp and restock with bass and pickerel, starting under game warden Eugene Breitenbach and Claire Dewey with community help. A 300 foot seine faced bottom snags, but trammer nets will ease work and finish is hoped before month’s end. The surrounding land will be beautified, turning the site into a city beauty spot.

Funeral Held for Fred Warfel in Des Moines
Fred M Warfel died Saturday June 27 1925 in a Des Moines hospital after a possible flu infection. Born September 27 1878 near Washington he lived in Des Moines most of his life. He is survived by his mother Eliza Warfel and two sisters Mrs George Clapper and Mrs Will Darbyshire. Interment was at Woodlawn Cemetery.
