Eight choruses compete for honors in the university Mother’s Day weekend finals at 7:30 pm Sunday on the Iowa river banks near the fine arts building. Winning groups receive a traveling loving cup in both men’s and women’s divisions.
The University of Iowa ROTC unit will march in review for President Virgil M. Hancher on May 14 to display the unit’s growth and yearly progress. About 840 cadets in nine companies will participate along with the Scott Highlanders University Band and four Pershing riflemen and Pontoniers. President Hancher will award the Chicago Tribune military merit prizes and confer other honors including basic military scholastic medals with 3.0 averages and an A in military science, plus twelve expert manual of arms medals for cadet trainees.
