Dr. Walter Steigleman head of the editorial journalism sequence at the State University of Iowa told the Superior Kiwanis club that today’s American newspaper is a modern miracle and that objective reporting and press freedom will be noted by future historians. He praised the United States for free press ideals and urged Wisconsin Minnesota and Michigan students to consider careers in small daily and weekly papers while noting UN press access debates and universal reporting rights as a world issue. He spoke at a Tri State press conference at Superior State College and plans similar talks in Spirit Lake and Cherokee in March and April.
