The Elgin Emeralds 4-H club met at Linda Hauser's home with Debra and Brenda Kuiken co hosts. Fourteen members two leaders and five visitors attended. A table manners play was given by Brenda Kuiken with help from others. Debra Kuiken spoke on milk products. The annual meeting set for June 3 was discussed. Lorraine Albert and Mary Puhl will compete in the Country Girl's Creed contest. Next meeting June 10 at Barbara Hawkins's home. Lorraine Albert, reporter.
John R. Goldman district manager SSA Sioux City outlined new disability credit rules for younger workers. Those disabled between 24 and 31 need only half the credits from age 21 to disability, while under 24 require 1.5 years of credits of the 3-year period ending at disability. A Sioux City SSA representative will be at Le Mars courthouse June 6 from 9 to noon to assist.
Robert Utech begins a series on JP courts explaining their role in Iowa. He notes the 1967 court reorganization bill, the push to update but not abolish justice of the peace, and outlines how township JP seats operate in Le Mars America Township Plymouth County with election, bonding, and two-year terms.
Dwayne Grotewold of Le Mars was discharged Wednesday from St. Joseph Mercy hospital in Sioux City where he underwent back surgery on May 15. Daily Sentinel classifieds find buyers.
