Westmar College recital features Cripps and Clark on Sunday
The final student recital of the academic year at Westmar college presents Mark Cripps on cornet and Cathy Clark on piano in Thoren hall at 3 p.m. on Sunday May 19. Methodist church to buy Evelyn drive parsonage
The First United Methodist church voted to purchase a four bed home on Evelyn drive for use as a parsonage at a price of 29500 with occupancy set for August 1. The adjacent parsonage is in need of repairs and not adequate. The house will serve as additional Sunday school space until a future educational wing is built.

Time for Initiative theme for soil stewardship
The Plymouth Soil Conservation district names A Time for Initiative as the theme for Soil Stewardship week May 1926. NACD sponsors the observance stressing care of water air trees and soil and the need for initiative. Hawarden Man Driving, Not Wife, In Fatal Crash
A Hawarden man, Robert John Scott, 19, was the driver of a 1967 Mustang in a fatal crash six miles west of Merrill on Wednesday evening. Louis Kemp, 86, Le Mars, died after failing to stop at a stop sign at the county road intersection with highway 7. Earlier reports misidentified Mrs. Muriel Scott as the driver. authorities corrected that Scott’s husband was behind the wheel. Scott and his father, Robert H. Scott, were injured and expected to be released from Hawarden hospital Friday.

John Alesch of Le Mars filed for a building permit to construct a $75,000 commercial building on Central Ave south of the burned Royal theater site. Wiltgen Construction to start May 21 with a 1969 completion. Jim Duffy of Sioux City is architect. Le Mars Mutual Insurance Co. expected to be housed there after six tenants burned out last December.
