Westmar Art department displays student work in a campus exhibit featuring paintings and sculptures by named students. The show highlights techniques learned in the semester and invites community viewing through a scheduled opening and weekend gallery hours.
The Fine Arts festival features a public exhibit open until June 1 in the Mock Library basement. Twenty three Westmar students from beginning and advanced drawing, painting, ceramics, and sculpture classes contributed works, with Frederick Keller praising it as one of the better student shows. The Sioux City stockyards opened the week with slaughter cattle and steer prices up to 30 cents higher, while heifers moved with similar strength.

Mrs. John H. Wilmes of Le Mars announces the engagement of her daughter Barbara Jean to Darrell J. Cantor of Inglewood California. An autumn wedding is planned. Ed Kurtz lives on lot 17 Euilks second addition valued at $15,000. P & W Farm Bureau Service Co. leases Illinois Central right of way for $1,000. Sam Orban resides on lot 1 Orban's second addition valued at $14,000. The crs meeting featured a program by Mrs. Darrel Ketelsen on the theme Sun Lights and tea followed.
Society brief highlights from Hammers restaurant and homes show the Bridgettes no hostess meeting at Hammers with a 1 o clock luncheon and card games. Chap ter C D of P B O visited Mrs Long and Mrs Smith. Hi Lo club hosted by Mrs Henry Harris with dessert and pinochle. Families guests at a Dorr dinner include Akers and Kaschmitter clans plus Dorr and Keihn. Federal Land Bank Sioux City managers attended a Des Moines conference. bank president Maxwell predicts a strong year with 23.7 million in new Iowa Nebraska South Dakota Wyoming loans in Q1 1963.
