Edward Sitzmann and his three sons from Le Mars were hospitalized after a two car crash at 12th St SE and Seventh Ave on Monday morning. Eugene 11 fair condition after X rays, Roger 17 and Peter 10 in good condition, Ann Litzmann outpatient. Daryl East driver of other car uninjured but charges pending. $1500 left side damage to Sitzmann car and $1000 to East vehicle.

Minnesota Orchestra arrives Tuesday for Le Mars workshops and a concert at Carey gym with seating for 2400, tickets 5 dollars reserved, 3 dollars adults, 2 dollars students. Weekend Rain Totals Reach Five Inches In April May
The area saw 2.39 inches of rain over the weekend raising the April total and May 1 to 5.10 inches of moisture. Cool, cloudy conditions lingered as a new low of 40 was recorded mid morning Monday. Rain and lightning occurred overnight with Friday at 0.04 inches and weekend totals of 0.40 on Saturday and 0.24 on Sunday. From Sunday afternoon through Monday morning 2.07 inches fell and a 50 percent rain chance remained into Tuesday with rain expected to end Tuesday.
Green campaign begins in May cleanup effort announced
First Lt. Gary Nagel of Company A announces a May 13-14 cleanup. Twenty-five guardsmen, Cub Scouts, and Scout troops 78, 184, and 188 will collect trash along Le Mars roads, railroad tracks, and in two parks. Participation details available from S.Sgt. Ames reports two low bidders for Le Mars project. Godbersen Smith Construction Ida Grove bids 199,729.92 for a Floyd River concrete beam bridge near the Iowa state high commission garage.
