The 4 H club Grant Clover Clovers met March 12 at Sharon Schulz home. Members pledged the flag, answered roll with a gar ment need, and reviewed secretary and treasurer reports. Illus trated talk covered wardrobe planning and sewing machine basics. A pattern talk and sewing talk followed as members measured for sizes. Lunch and games concluded the gathering. next meeting April 16 at the Barker home. Lincoln Book Chronicle debuts 1859 Columbus print recounting the Lincoln Douglas debates on slavery.

Auger accident injures Hinton man at Sloan elevator
Robert Trometer, 25, of Hinton, was pulled into a grain auger at Farmers' Cereal elevator in Sloan while loading corn for the Hinton elevator. He underwent emergency surgery at Sioux City Methodist Hospital and remained in fair condition on Wednesday. Bill DuBois of Sloan shut off the机器 after the accident, which officials say is the first at that elevator.

Court reporter's car damaged by flames near library
A fire damaged a 1955 Mercury owned by Robert Cassel, a court reporter for district Judge James P. Kelley, at the library corner near Central Ave. The blaze began about 9 25 a.m. Thursday and firemen quickly extinguished it as Cassel’s eastbound car halted east of Central Ave. intersection in Le Mars.
