Missionaries to Speak at Free Methodist Church
Naomi Thorsen of the Philippines will speak Friday at 7:30 p.m. at the Free Methodist church in Le Mars, with Rev. Gerald Marlow as pastor. Thorsen, a long time missionary and teacher, will share experiences from her work in Bible teaching and ministry formation in the Philippines using slides and artifacts. Remsen Firemen Busy with Fires This Week
Remsen fire department answered three calls early this week, bringing the yearly total to 16. A shed roof fire at Tony Nacke farm northeast of town Sunday likely started by faulty wiring. Monday a grass fire at Cletus Schiltz farm northwest of town was extinguished before the crew arrived. Tuesday evening a grass fire at Jake Taminga farm south of Remsen, started by burning corn leaves, drew firefighters before 6 pm.

Le Mars Chapter 70 OES Meets With Rainbow Girls Guests

Akron Woman Mrs Gearhard Claasen Dies at 50
Mrs Gearhard Claasen 50 of Akron died Thursday at Akron hospital after a long illness. Born August 10 1917 she was the former Stella Willer. She married in Akron November 3 1945 lived in Fairview South Dakota for 14 years. Funeral at Wesley Methodist Church with Rev Edward Maus and burial in Riverside Cemetery. Survivors include her parents sisters and a brother. Also noted five U S presidents who failed to serve a full term: Harrison Taylor Garfield Harding and Kennedy.
