A Ford sponsored survey of builders shows 1963 housing starts rising 17 percent to about 1,670,000 private nonfarm units from 1,428,000 in 1962. Apartments remain strong with 350,000 starts projected for 1968, and most rental units at all price levels move within three months.

The Henry Meyer family expresses heartfelt gratitude for comforting sympathy and help in their sorrow. They thank those who attended the service provided flowers and kindness especially the nurses and aides on the fourth floor at Sacred Heart hospital.
A daughter was born to Mr and Mrs John De Rocker on March 20 at St Joseph Mercy hospital in Sioux City. Renee Single, 3, admitted for appendectomy at Sioux City Lutheran hospital after an illness last Tuesday. The Mroczkowskis welcomed a child in Akron hospital on March 19. Susans and Kevins stay with grandparents Mr and Mrs Harvey Herman while mother is in hospital. the Hermans now have 25 grandchildren.
Community calendars include Mrs. Edgar Tolsma hosting friends Friday afternoon and Mrs. William Borchers entertaining the Buzz in Coren at dinner followed by pinnochle. The American Lutheran Women circle met with Mrs. Carl Kensil, with devotions by Mrs. Gilbert Berkenpas and plans for April 18 in the church youth room. The Ministery of John the Baptist screened at the Presbyterian service, with a coffee hour and hostess group three. Past Matrons of Eastern Star met for a salad luncheon hosted by Mrs. Hart, Mrs. Eyres, Mrs. Budde, Mrs. Fox and Mrs. Brown. Le Mars Rainbow Girls, led by Bonnie Holland, planned a Cancer Drive project and a joint dinner April 1 with Eastern Star before initiation. Baptist Women’s Fellowship elected officers: President Mrs. John Klohs, VP Mrs. J. D. Tindall, Secretary Mrs. Joe Shilt, Treasurer Mrs. Robert Lake, with various circle leaders and a program on Baptist work in Hong Kong led by Mrs. Clyde Coppock. Mary-Martha circle closed with coffee.
Community notices report a LeMars Great Books discussion at 7 30 p m Wednesday in the Oak Room with Tepic and Lucretius topics. Family visits include the De Witts of Canby and the Desires with parents in memory. Also noted are vacations, births, church visits, and Westmar College participants at Drake University in Des Moines with political workshop remarks by Governor Hughes.
Marion Ladewigs Bowling advises a free arm release with the hand near eye level to improve roll and strike action. Weekend social visits include Mr and Mrs Totman and Mr and Mrs Shepherd at Grinnell with family members and a theater visit. C L Mann of Kansas City, Bendix Corp, spoke at an all school chapel on ethics and law urging Golden Rule living to curb lax ethics.
Three workshops sponsored by state health and education bodies will be held at Drake University Cedar Falls and the State University of Iowa. The Drake session runs July 22 to August 2 offering three credit hours. Cedar Falls June 1 to 28 offering two hours. Iowa City July 8 to 19 offering two hours. Scholarships are available for Cedar Falls and Iowa City.
