Requiem Mass for Sister M. Juliana Lundick at St Josephs
A solemn requiem was offered Friday morning at 10 in St Josephs church for Sister M Juliana Lundick. Rt Rev Msgr J D Fisch officiated with Fr David Hogan deacon and Fr Mark Walsh subdeacon. Interment followed at Calvary cemetery LeMars. Sister M Juliana joined Gehlen high school in 1962 63 from St Elizabeth Detroit where she was principal for four years. She taught English history and religion and directed Rosarian and the school play.

Gehlen students shine in district speech and play contests
In the district speech contest at Heelan High School last Saturday Kathleen Litzmann and Betsy Moss earned top ratings in Speech Division. Sid Von Teerse, Karen Freging, Joan Mertes, Dale Reichle and Pat Casteel also posted excellent ratings. Seniors from Gehlen also scored an excellent rating in the one act play The Informer, with Mr Capten praising the cast and thanking them for their sacrifice of free time.

Modern Math Club Prepares for Annual Contest
The senior class math club has worked hard under Sister Mary Hugh CHM to study modern math topics including number sets imaginary numbers and logic with truth tables. The Fourteenth Annual Mathematics Contest sponsored by the MAA and the Society of Actuaries will be held at Gehlen on Mar 44. Sister Hugh will correct tests and send top scores to Des Moines for state finals eligibility.

Larson Life of Westfield Resident Enfred Larson Dies
Enfred T. Larson, 60, longtime Westfield resident and later Sioux City resident, died February 23 after an extended illness. Born January 17, 1903 in Sioux City, he moved to Westfield in 1910 and farmed before retiring to Sioux City in 1960. Survived by two sisters Lucile Larson and Esther Mord and two brothers John S. and Arvid. Funeral services held Tuesday at Nelson-Berger funeral home. Westmar College to participate in National Guidance Testing program March 11-12 with SCAT and STEP exams for sophomores under Charles Lemke.
