Agricultural research must be high priority for long term gains

T. W. Edminister of the Agricultural Research Service argues that U S farming has seen major productivity gains since 1950, with per acre crop output up 45 percent and labor efficiency doubling. He warns that agricultural research has stagnated while other sectors rise, stressing a 10 to 15 year horizon for new ideas to reach widespread use and stressing the 25 year global food crisis.

Kingsley dog poisoned again near golf course

Kingsley faces continued canine poisoning as a worker’s dog near the Kingsley Farmers Co op elevator silos was laced with strychnine on the golf course. Veterinarian Dr Loren Hansen could not save the dog. KTIV reported with Robert Rurke’s interview as the blind youth fears his seeing eye dog may be poisoned. Kingsley bicentennial organizers seek to coax Rurke back to ride a float, promising to guard the dog.
