Floyd Valley hospital opens amid praise and planning
Thousands of Floyd Valley community residents toured the new hospital praising its attractive colors, extensive equipment, 26 patient rooms, and central blood bank. The project involved board members, architect James Duffy, contractors Wiltgen Construction and Le Mars Heating and Plumbing, and the hospital auxiliary whose volunteers funded bazaars. The facility aims to attract doctors to the area and serve regional needs with surgery, cardiac monitoring, X ray and laboratory services. Visitors will soon see a modern hospital in operation, as patients transfer next Friday.

Corpus Christi outdoor procession at Ovens church
The Feast of Corpus Christi will be observed Sunday June 20 at St. Catherine's parish Ovens with a 9 a.m. high mass read by Rev. Richard Ries. An outdoor procession around the church grounds will pause at corner chapels for benediction led by the VFOW and American Legion color guard of Remsen. Banners will divide the groups and the rosary will be recited over loud speakers. Visitors from nearby towns are welcome and cars will be provided for older walkers.
