Mrs. Gerrit DeKoter of Maurice and her sister Mrs. Lena Koopmans of Haarlemmer Holland visit the United States after a 45 year gap. They are seen at the Arlan Beek home this week. Koopmans plans a two month stay and will visit a brother in Minnesota.
Chester and Mrs. Bergner have filed separate district court petitions naming Carl Klaus as defendant. They seek $66,000 for personal injuries from a July 5 1964 rear end collision on highway 3 about a half mile west of Remsen. Chester seeks $25,000 for neck back and foot injuries. Mrs. Bergner seeks $30,000 for multiple injuries including cib bum neck leg chest back and hearing loss.
Swanee's tavern at 14 Central Ave SE will be sold Wednesday evening July 6 at 8 p m. Auctioneers Ruden and Kiem will conduct the sale. Owner Birtlett Swanson will devote full time to his Concrete Products Co in Le Present lease will be assigned with the building including an upstairs apartment.
Public notice in district court announces the will of Edgar Fay Tenpenning dated June 10 1964 admitted to probate on June 22 1966 with appointment of executor. Creditors must file claims with the clerk within six months from second publication and debts are to be paid immediately to the executor.
George Mount told council that John Brangwin submitted an estimated 4448 for 20 by 48 foot picnic shelters with cement floors asphalt shingle roofs water and electricity. Work could start at once and finish in a couple weeks for summer use. The council approved 5000 from liquor profits to aid park boards meet costs for shelters and a new children’s wading pool at Municipal Park.
Danish 18 Rock nop was killed when he was thrown from a motorcycle and landed in a north ditch. A car traveled 1,500 feet dragging the cycle before flipping end over end. Sheriff Ekren and George Dunn assisted. the deceased’s parents are Mr and Mrs LaVerne Danish of Rock Rapids and the injured youth’s parents are Mr and Mrs Roy Neilson of Akron
