Aalfs Manufacturing donated $1,000 to the Storm Lake Community Chest, described as a Christmas gift by Tom Watt, chairman. Wilbur Aalfs presented the check, with the company planning ongoing participation in community funds at their plants in Storm Lake, Spencer, Le Mars, and Sioux City. The gift to balance over five years with any earned interest also directed to the united fund campaign each year.
Gary Lee Scott, 22, of Merrill, remained in fair condition Tuesday night at St. Vincent hospital in Sioux City after his right foot was caught in a grain auger while unloading grain at the Purina Mills plant Monday afternoon. Police described the incident as an entanglement in the auger.
