Twenty years ago in Le Mars readers saw a Christmas birth and many small town events. Mr. and Mrs. Delfs of Hinton welcomed a son on Christmas Day 1938. Marriage licenses were issued for several couples including Montague Eppling, Oltmanns, and Dunn. Weather turned cold with a low of five below zero and three inches of snow. Community notes cover anniversaries, engagements, a Legion building update, and a youth club gift exchange with Virginia O’Hanlon’s Santa Claus letter read aloud.

Westmar Debuts Artist Series With University of Minnesota Play

Westmar college opens its artist series with The Rival by the University of Minnesota Players on Saturday Jan 10 at 8 pm in Thoren hall on campus. The college subsidizes the program for students and locals. General admission is $1 and student price 50 cents. A second event features violinist Kees Kooper on Feb 14 and the Morningside Madrigal Singers on Apr 10. Bill Becker of Algona has a 250 pound buck from Kossuth County shot at 105 yards in 20 degree below zero weather.

Perry Farm Bureau Sets Christmas Gathering Details

The Perry Woman's Club held its Christmas meeting at Mrs George Perkins home with plans announced for the Tomemaker's Holiday on February 3 1959. Tickets must be bought in advance from Mrs George Perkins by January 29. A special fund was raised at the November and December meetings to repurchase Christmas gifts.
