Life's End At Age 95 Formerly Granville

Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon December 18 at the Sanborn Reformed Church for John Kerr who died December 6 at Hartley hospital after residing in a nursing home for six years. Born in The Netherlands he came to the United States at 14 settling near Hospers. In 1898 he married Elsie Krikke at Orange City. They farmed north of Granville, moved to Sanborn in 1935. Surviving are four sons Nick and Albert of Holland Michigan Charles and Gerrit of Sanborn. three daughters Mrs Herman Oldenkamp of Hull Mrs Paul Ruyers of Holland Michigan and Mrs Leo Walkling of Crookston Nebraska. 22 grandchildren 45 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. His wife died in 1953. Burial was in Roseland Cemetery Sanborn.

Rings and Vows Set for December 26 in Sacred Heart

The wedding of the daughter of Mr and Mrs Odean Skalbeck, prominent farmers, will take place at The Sacred Heart. The bride studied in Florida and the groom is stationed with the Navy Air Corps in Pensacola. The bride’s mother, Mrs Thunhorst, will finish a teaching assignment before joining her husband. Also, Ernest Meins Marcus sues Alfred Witt in Hawarden for damages from a 1962 parking lot collision, claiming $114.31 in losses including three days of vehicle use.
