The Iowa Department of Transportation reports per mile costs for four car types: subcompact 11.52 cents, compact 13.48 cents, intermediate 15.99 cents, and standard 17.46 cents. The study assumes 100,000 miles over 10 years with salvage value 50 dollars, gasoline 59.9 cents per gallon with 11 cents tax.
Two cars were damaged in an accident Saturday at 2 p.m. about 34 miles north of Sioux City on Highway 75. There were no injuries. Rodney Keith Johann, 30, of Sioux City, drove a 1971 Volkswagen, and Joseph Scott Fischer, 23, of Sioux City, drove a 1975 Ford station wagon. Each vehicle sustained $150 damage. Officers said Johann flashed hazards after passing a stopped car, while Fischer failed to see the car with the flashers and could not pull left in time to avoid the crash.
Alfred H Meske 81 of Akron died December 19 1975 in an Akron hospital after a brief illness. Services were 1:30 p.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev Durwood Clauson officiating. Burial in Riverside Cemetery. A prayer service was Sunday 7 p.m. at Schroeder funeral home. Meske born May 8 1894 in Oshkosh Wisconsin moved to Akron as a boy. He married Anna Kleihauer March 14 1923. They farmed in Plymouth and Union counties South Dakota retired to Akron in 1962. He was a World War I veteran. Survivors include his wife two daughters Berniece Jurgensen and Leanna Jurgenson of Akron a son Marvin of Sioux Falls SD seven sisters Erna Schmidt Lora Futta Alma Briggs Ilda Golzn Hales Corners Wis Irene Dellmann South Gate Calif and seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Gregory J. Eilers son of Mr and Mrs Ken Jacobsen of Ireton graduated December 19 at mid term with a bachelor of fine arts degree from the University of Nebraska Lincoln. A 1971 West Sioux high school graduate, he will travel to Flagstaff Arizona to spend the holidays with his brother Tom Eilers and family and will seek work.
