Walter Aird of Le Mars reports the death of his sister Mary Aird Elise at a Fort Collins nursing home where she had lived two years. Funeral services are set for Saturday in Fort Collins with burial there. Also noted are Christmas visits planned by Davenport residents to relatives in the area.
In a Kingsley call, Elden Bainbridge told Mrs. Ted Bolton that his wife Ruth Bainbridge had brain surgery on Tuesday and is in critical condition. Ruth remains a hospital patient at St. Joseph Hospital in Orange. Address and local home details are given. Susan Kamp, a Public Health Service nurse, is visiting her parents in Fountain Valley.
Le Mars police reported a 1966 Chevrolet panel truck owned by Reuter Flooring Co. sustained minor damage when a car slid on ice into it at 10 p.m. Tuesday at Second Street and Third Avenue SE. Barry McDougall, 17, of 1225 First Ave SE lost control coming from the north and turning west, causing $50 damage to the truck and $130 damage to a 1967 Mustang owned by William McDougall. Both youths paid a $25 fine on an alcohol charge and appeared before Justice Joseph Frankie in Los Fresnos, Texas, charged with possession of alcohol.

Kingsley residents Ted Bolton report his in laws Mr and Mrs Melvin Bainbridge stranded in Winslow Arizona due to heavy snow. They pulled into a motel on December 13 and remained there as of Friday. Winslow recorded 29 inches and Flagstaff 49 inches with Flagstaff later at 90 inches. The Bainbridges cannot move their car and are walking for meals while awaiting travel to California.
At Floyd Valley hospital on Thursday admission list includes Leonard Dreckman of Merrill and several Le Mars residents Mrs Sylvia Henning Mrs Sadie Brunskill Mrs Mary Hartman and Mrs Ollie McGraw. Discharges include Leonard Dreckman Merrill Kenneth Treinen Remsen Mrs Dwayne Grotewold Le Mars and Mrs Jack Calkins and daughter of Le Mars.
An agency said the 1966 Pontiac LeMans registered to Dorothy Michalosky of Merrill was seized by the customs service. Two Plymouth County youths face induction into service on January 3. Fred Turner of the U.S. Cas marijuana. They were jailed on $1,500 bond each and remained jailed Friday.
