Navy Seaman Timothy Rush Aboard USS Point Defiance
NICIAN SEAMAN TIMOTHY J. RUSH USN son of Mrs Gladys M Rush of Merrill is in the Far East with the U S Seven th Fleet as crewman aboard the dock landing ship USS Point Defiance on her third cruise in 1965. The ship took part in amphibious raids against targets in South Vietnam aided in salvage of the destroyer Frank Knox and helped rescue pilots of two Air Force B 52 bombers after a collision over the area. The second cruise in early 1966 transported Marine troops and equipment from Far East bases to the Republic of Vietnam.
