Scout troop 185 held its court of honor with a 6 30 potluck on December 8. First graders at Remsen Union delivered Santa letters to the Daily Sentinel office. Letters express simple wishes such as a doll house a train a kitten a typewriter a BB gun and a record player. Westmar College guest Alice Kruse read The Littlest Angel during the afternoon program while Christmas recordings played. A Lucky Eight Birthday celebration and a no host luncheon at the CLU cafe followed with secret pals revealed and gifts exchanged.

Christmas meeting and church circle activities shared
The Grant township Farm Bureau women hosted a December 16 dessert luncheon at Mrs. Vernon Renken’s home after a Christmas story read by Mrs. Earl Lubben. A gift exchange and Christmas program featured Mr. Schmidt’s monologue Selecting the Christmas Turkey and a chocolate covered cherries demo by Mariann Renken. The next meeting is January 20 at Mrs. Leonard’s home. Separately Evangelical United Brethren church groups held December gatherings with Martha and Dorcas circles caroling, Bible studies, potluck dinners, and a needy family gift and food drive led by Circles members. Mrs. Belk hosted Le Mars club members for coffee with a special offering collected.
