The Hinton Community School District board will hold an open meeting at 7 30 p m Wednesday December 27 to inform the public about proposed remodeling and addition to the school building. Community members with questions are urged to attend, board members said.
The Le Mars Assembly of God will host a 7:30 p.m. Thursday Christmas program featuring an original play "Witnessing for Jesus" by children and youths. It shows a family recalling God's gift at Christmas, with traditional and contemporary religious music. Mrs. Harry Schultz and Mrs. Melvin June oversee the event, and the public is invited.
Cong Willey Mayne announced the appointment of an advisory committee to select congressional nominees for the service academies Army Navy and Air Force. L H Heinie Jones of Sioux City was named chairman. Members include Judge Donald Pendleton Elwood Olsen Mrs James Bowers Bernard Cooper Charles Meloy Thorpe Clark. Interviews with about two dozen applicants set for Dec 28. Final recommendations due after district visits and exams by the Civil Service Commission.
Private Roger D Bosworth, 19, son of Mr and Mrs Lester A Rollins of 409 Seventh Ave SE, completed basic combat training at Fort Campbell Kentucky and fired expert with the M 14 rifle on October 29. The expert rating is the highest mark on the weapons qualification test.
In his mail bag Edwin Arnett of Le Mars thanks "Mr Curious" for urging grounded American values and praises the "Glad about-er" for boosting morale with poetry in prose. He ends with a Merry Christmas to the committee and supports fair appointments to service academies.
Mary Elizabeth Fuller and David Michael Strub united in marriage December 16 at St. John Catholic church in Independence. Msgr. Haverman read the vows as pink and red poinsettias adorned the altar. The couple, seniors at Augustana College, reside in Sioux Falls at 102 West Lotta. Proceedings included a 200-guest reception at Hotel Pinicon.
