Junk mail plague from license lists prompts reform plea
The State Motor Vehicle department's list of auto license holders was sold to a Michigan firm sending junk mail. Spokesmen say the data was for public scrutiny, but some staff moonlighted by copying and transmitting names for commercial use. If true, it must stop. legislation may be needed to curb junk mail and ease the post office deficit.
