James M. Kennedy the acting postmaster said the post office predicts a record yule mailing with over 300000 mail pieces to be processed this pre Christmas season. He noted the peak machine cancellations surpassed 26000 on Dec 18 1961 and that outgoing packages already exceed last year’s totals while letters trail by about 2 percent due to one extra mailing day.
Dominic Kellen 86 of Granville died in a Granville area hospital. Special funeral services were held Monday December 10 at St Adrian Catholic church Adrian Minnesota. He was born November 17 1876 and lived on a farm west of Granville with his parents. Survived by wife a daughter Mrs Bernard Reisdorfer two sons Dominic and Edward two brothers Nick Moe and two sisters Mrs Ted Bullerman and Mrs Elizabeth Klein all of Adrian.

Mrs Van Donge aged 99 widely known as the county s oldest resident has died. Surviving descendants number in the hundreds with 165 listed as relatives. Funeral services are announced to be held in the coming days.
Glenn D Hamann ma chinist's mate third class USN son of Mr and Mrs W G Hamann of 200 4th Ave NW Le Mars was promoted in late November aboard fleet oiler USS Elokomin after passing a navy wide competitive examination and meeting professional and military requirements. Elokomin operates out of Norfolk Virginia.
