Hawarden Triplets Featured In Local Hospital Births

Mr and Mrs Earl Osterkamp of rural Hawarden were photographed with their three daughters Lee Jill and Shari the first triplets born at Hawarden Community hospital. The trio were shown arriving at Sioux Valley hospital to go home. Jill recovered from a blood disease after transfusions at Sioux Falls hospital. The triplets were born November 21.

Kingsley Wrestler Suffers Broken Ankle at School

Grant Case son of Mr and Mrs Geo Case of Kingsley sustained a broken ankle during wrestling practice at the school last week. He was treated at St Joseph hospital in Sioux City where surgery was performed and the leg was placed in a cast.

Society groups met at Hammer's restaurant and various homes for luncheons and contract card games. Members hosted circles at St John Lutheran and Christ Church Women’s Society. Christmas project lunches and missionary gift drives were planned, with guest speakers and Bible studies noted.

Members of Club 15 met at Hammer's restaurant for a one o'clock luncheon and card session. Catholic Ladies fed at St. Joseph parish hall with a potluck, followed by 500 and a gift exchange. Le Mars Sunshine Club hosted by Mrs. Eilks with Grace Jones leading Christmas Echoes devotions and songs by Mrs. Forsberg and Mrs. Kehrberg. Business by Mrs. Coppock, shut-ins named for Christmas baskets, and a Christmas program by Mrs. Jennings and friends. A coffee hour ended the day.

Birth of Bruce Everett Bjork in Le Mars area

Mrs. Dennis Bjork of Le Mars is the mother of a son born Sunday December 11. The boy weighed 6 pounds 9 ounces and was named Bruce Everett. He has a brother Brian and a sister Brenda. Grandparents are Clarence Yates of Le Mars and Elmer Schiltz of Remsen. Mr Bjork died recently after a several months illness.

Milestone in Medicine for Dr. Jenkinson in Iowa City

Dr. Harry R. Jenkinson, a longtime Iowa City physician, marked his 50th year as a practicing doctor on December 6 at Mercy Hospital where he serves on the staff. The celebration was attended by about 300 colleagues, patients, and friends as he had spent the night prior delivering a baby.
