Power Lineman Training Course at Northwest Iowa

Northwest Iowa Vocational School in Sheldon will offer a 48 week power lineman course starting February 6. Limited to twenty men, it is the only such Iowa program with state approval and a statewide advisory panel. Tuition is 200 plus personal equipment. applicants must be high school graduates or pass equivalency, and meet entrance requirements. Contact the school at 712-324-2587 for details.

Area deaths buried at Orange City

Funeral services for Peter Dykstra 74 were held at the First Reformed church in Orange City with Rev. Van Heukelem and Rev. Bast presiding. Burial followed at West Lawn Cemetery. Dykstra died Saturday after a long illness. He was born April 17, 1892 in Orange City and married Emma Rensink in 1918 at Newkirk. Survivors include a daughter, two sons, two sisters, a brother and seven grandchildren.

Le Mars air medal recipient honored at Vietnam duty

Sgt Ed Ford, son in law of Mr and Mrs John Brangwin Sr Le Mars Iowa, received a commendation medal for nearly errorless work in the air force finance office in Viet Nam. He served October 1965 to October 1966 and family resided in Le Mars during that time. Wife Velva Brangwin, daughters Mary 19 and Nancy 12. Mrs Ford a registered nurse.
