Award supports math science and languages for students with at least a B average. He also receives the outstanding Greek freshman award and participates in ISU bands.

Mrs Samuel Uthe 89 Le Mars resident dies after brief illness

Funeral services for Mrs. Samuel Uthe 89 of Le Mars were held at 1:30 p m Monday at Calvary Evangelical United Brethren church. Rev Harold Warre officiated burial was at Le Mars Memorial cemetery under Mauer's funeral home direction. She died Friday evening in a Sioux City hospital after a brief illness born Matilda Wilhelmens Detloff Oct 6 1877 near Le Mars married May 21 1902 to Samuel Uthe who died in 1943 survived by a brother Henry of Yakima Wash she was a member of Calvary church and was preceded in death by her parents her husband six sisters and two brothers.

Funeral services held for Jonas Brundeen in Akron

Jonas Brundeen 83 of Akron died Saturday in a Yankton hospital after a long illness. Services were at Immanuel Lutheran Church with Rev. David Roy officiating. Burial in Riverside Cemetery. Survivors include a son A. E. Brundeen, a brother Arthur Brundeen, a brother and four sisters in Sweden, a grandson and two great granddaughters. He was born July 24, 1883 in Linmard Sweden and came to the United States early. He married Marie Anderson in 1910. she died in 1949. He farmed near Akron until retiring in 1942. Mrs Floyd O Bryan 54 route 1 Sioux City died Friday in a Sioux City hospital. Born March 3 1912 in Le Mars she was Mary Harvard before marrying in 1945. She worked 35 years for American Popcorn Co and lived in Sioux City 45 years. Survived by husband a son Daniel of Sioux City two sisters Mrs Bernard Michaelson Kansas City and Mrs Ralph McMullen of Sioux City four brothers John Edward Robert and Donald Harward. Funeral Monday 10 am at St Michael Catholic with Rev F P Conway officiating burial Calvary Cemetery Rosary recited Sunday at Larkin Funeral Home.
