Agricultural Engineer Norval Wardle reports Iowa tests show rear-view mirrors on tractors cut highway hazards more than warning flags. He urges red white diagonal flags 9 by 12 to 12 by 16 inches and a 6 by 12 inch tail light, with flags mounted 8 to 10 feet high, plus an adjustable rear-view mirror. Wardle notes mirrors aid back-up safety and watching trailing equipment.
Floyd Kanne a Registered Nurse from Duluth Minnesota will assume the Akron hospital administrator post on January 2 1959. He trained at Kahler s School of Nursing and Latterill s School of Anesthesia and is an anesthetist at Hibbing General Hospital. He succeeds Mrs Alfreda Polly who resigned effective November 26 after two years in the role.
Alton Mr and Mrs William Gebuer announce the engagement of their daughter Judith Anh to Robert H Muilenburg son of Mr and Mrs Henry W Muilenburg of Orange City Judie is a senior at Alton high school and Robert is employed at the Inveldt Insurance Agency in Orange City No date has been set for the wedding.
Commercial production has continued for years at an Iowa factory. The adjustable mirror designed by Iowa agricultural engineers is now undergoing tests at an appliance factory and is being trialed at the Iowa agricultural engineering research farm south of Ames to ensure maximum convenience in typical farm operations.
Kingsley s Mr and Mrs Glen Groth announce the forthcoming marriage of their daughter Darnell to Clair Clausen both of Omaha. Clair is son of Mr and Mrs William Clausen of Kingsley.
Sixty years ago in Le Mars a short discontinuation ended as the O Leary post office is back in operation with A McLain, former postmaster, in charge. Will Laux enlarges his coal office and warehouse south of the tracks. Yeomans post office opens in Perry township. Allan Semple and Miss Carrie L Billings marry at the bride's parents home in Le Mars. The temperature stood at eight degrees below zero Wednesday morning, the coldest so far this winter.
A wedding is scheduled for Saturday December 13 at First Lutheran Church in Kingsley. The couple plans to unite in a ceremony followed by a reception with family and friends.
After work two stenographers stop at a cocktail lounge and sip peanuts. They share confidences and jokes about Russians being nasty. One quips that two vodka cocktails make him love everybody.
