After weeks of practice the Senior class play The Little Dog Laughed was presented on December 3 and 4. It drew very responsive audiences and was praised as one of the finest class plays on the Gehlen stage. Each senior received 20 tickets to sell while Sister M. Roselyn S C C received candy and a plant for directing the production. The class thanks Sister Roselyn and local families and firms for props and time.

The Immaculate Conception defined as Mary’s sinless conception in 1854 is celebrated on December 8. Gehlen students will have a free day tomorrow in honor of the holy day.
Junior class rings arrive at Gehlen High School on Monday December 9. The rings feature a bright gold finish with a dull gold inlay that wears off, a green oval stone set in gold, and inscriptions reading Gehlen High School wisdom honor truth loyalty and a year 1962 alongside each student’s initials. One side shows the Holy Ghost emblem, the other a Blessed Virgin and Christ Child. Most juniors are pleased though seniors say theirs are nicer. the rings are in general acceptance and pride among students.
Sophomore English classes staged Poetry Parade in room 106 on Monday December 5. Sister Dolorose produced the program with a light announcer intro and a brief commercial. The show explained rhyme and meter and introduced the Sound Effect Family including Rhyme Onomatopoeia Internal Rhyme Alliteration and Assonance. The announcer praised the cast and forecast future programs.
Mary Ann Kommel is noted with multiple birthday dates in December. The entries list December 10, 12, and 14 as birth dates for the individual.
By Lynne Deegan Tuesday all the Senior girls took The Betty Crocker Home makers Test. The test covers problems a future homemaker will face with multiple choice and one essay. Thirty-five minutes for part one, ten minutes for the essay. Complete test was light, so finishing was impossible. Grading based on correct answers, not completion. The top scorer will be announced later and receive a Betty Crocker Pin.
The National Honor Society will provide Christmas baskets to needy families in the community. NHS students will meet class officers to plan well balanced baskets, with each member asked for a specific contribution. Baskets to be delivered by a Gehlen High School faculty member on December 23.
The Hutmilty Sisters moved into a new convent located south of St James rectory. Several ladies cleaned floors and windows before the move, and the sisters are hoped to enjoy their new home.
