Le Mars Daily Sentinel is published daily by Chan and Carter Pitts excluding Fridays Saturdays Sundays and legal holidays and entered at the Le Mars Iowa post office as second class mail matter.

Social Gatherings Miss Rosemary Sartori will host Le Mars Friday club at her home on Friday afternoon December 5. Mrs. L. A. Ludwig will preside. Mrs. J. L. Reeves will give the opening meditation. Mrs. Tarry Cannon of the Plymouth county Welfare Board will present Welfare in Iowa. Tea will follow and visiting. Le Mars Woman's club met Wednesday at Mrs. Eldon Danne's with box luncheons at 1 o'clock.
Luncheon and dessert gatherings followed by card games and contract at Hammer's restaurant and homes. Clubs including La Con, Merry Mixers, Fight-Til-Late, Merrie, Nu Fu, and Baptist Women’s Fellowship held meetings with sewing, devotional study, and exchanges of Christmas gifts. Mrs. Eva Lund advises homemakers to plan time carefully during the holidays.
The Ladies Aid of St Johns United Church of Christ met in the church social rooms with Mrs William Wisser as hostess. Mrs Fred Susemihl gave opening devotions and Mrs Fred Utech led the meeting. Plans were made to send gifts to church missions and orphanages. A social hour and luncheon followed.
Judge Lampman yesterday ordered petit jurors not to report for duty until Monday December 15 for any trial work during the December term. The directive pauses juror service to accommodate the court schedule and pending cases.
Calvin Maiden of Marathon suffered a cut requiring seven stitches over his eye after falling 16 feet from a corncrib he was building. In Denison hospital, Timothy Jay was born December 3 to Mr. and Mrs. Len Pwide of Smithland with grandparents Mrs. Ray Baack and Mr. and Mrs. Waller Rohde. Mrs. Rohde is Jane Baack.
Calvary Evangelical United Brethren church held its annual meeting with over 100 attending. Trustees Ed Kurtz Albert Null and Ed Buss were re elected for three years. Dr G O Thompson and Clayton Roth were named lay leaders. Officers reelected include Sunday school head E C Danner and Ruth Hartman as treasurer. Rev C W Dehne led the program.
