Air Force unit wins top Smith trophy at Sioux City base

Six area air force men from Kingsley Akron Westfield and Marcus helped the ADC 30th air division win the Smith trophy as the best air defense ground unit. The trophy ceremony occurred November 19 at the Sioux City base after the division scored 6 930 of 7 000 points in a year long competition including a computer simulated enemy air attack. The rotating award, begun in 1963, honors General Frederic H Smith Jr. and recognizes excellence in isolated air defense units.
