Eugene P Winterfeld of Le Mars will be ordained to the ministry of the American Lutheran church at 10 a.m. Sunday in St John Lutheran Craig with Rev Walter K Schmidt of Bethany Lutheran Elkhorn Neb delivering the sermon and Rev Ervin B Schemmel of Craig presiding A reception follows Mrs Esther Oloff organist and Wayne Winterfeld will sing the ordination hymn My Church My Church The ordination was authorized by Rev Erwin G Fritschel President of the churchs central district Winterfeld born Sept 12 1935 in Le Mars is a Wartburg College graduate and Wartburg Seminary alum He has completed a clinical training at St Lukes Milwaukee and was recently offered a call to St Pauls Evangelical Lutheran Otis Colo.

Army officers attend Fort Mason supply management course
Lt Col Wilbur H DePree of Le Mars is among 40 senior officers from 15 states enrolled in a two week brush up course in supply management at Fort Mason California August 21 to September 1. He is a Plymouth county welfare worker with the Iowa State Department of Social Welfare. Wichers arraigned on kidnapping charge in Sioux City
Donald Leroy Wichers 25 Granville was arraigned Monday on a kidnapping charge. Judge John Fadiman set a preliminary hearing for 10 a.m. Sept. 5. Wichers was arrested Sunday by Sioux County Sheriff Harry Dykstra and brought from Orange City. The alleged offense occurred May 22 in Sioux City when he allegedly forced a woman into his car and she escaped after a few blocks. He is held in $5,000 bond.
