Allstate regional manager E L Stone cites A Teenage Pattern study of 20 000 high school students showing grades drop as driving privileges grow. He urges strict parental supervision, trained driving, and limiting car use to protect academics and safety.
The National Chamber asks its 5 million members to adopt truthful advertising, self regulation, substantiated claims, consumer guidance, and health and safety information. President Nixon calls the standards welcome and essential and urges voluntary self regulation over imposed rules.
In a reflection by hospital administrator Robert Joens, the piece notes hospitals have transitioned from homes for the destitute to centers of care and education. Citing Henry Norris of McKennan Hospital, it traces care’s shift since the early 1900s, the Flexner report, and ongoing cost concerns while urging patient-centered reform and dignity.
