Jobless in July total UI payments rise in Iowa
Unemployment insurance payments to protected Iowans totaled 7,448.71 in July, up 84,482 for the month. Layoffs in the motor vehicle industry drove the increase, with industry payments rising from 67,584 in June to 174,689 in July. National July UI payments reached 1,587,744, up from 1,503,262 in June. July 1972 stood at 1,663,567. The state UI program is funded solely by employer taxes. Plymouth County workers received 7,448.71 in July under the three UI programs.
