Visitors Seiichi Okatsu age 16 from Odawara City and Yuriko Koizumi age 20 from Kawasaki Japan spent six weeks in Le Mars and Paullina as part of the Lions exchange program. Seiichi stayed with Dr. R. M. Drennen while Yuriko stayed with the Dr. Jon Schiltz family in Paullina. Paul Truesdell, son of Mr. and Mrs. Myrle Truesdell, has gone to Yokohama, Japan as part of the program and is staying with Mr. Endo who hosted a Japanese Lions visitor earlier this year. Susie Peterson won this week’s dollar art contest with a colorful drawing of grass, lake and a girl.
Vernon Barents of Ireton charged with speeding. Bruce Richardson of Kingsley charged with public intoxication. Stephen Delperdang of Marcus charged with reckless driving. Edith Peck of Akron charged with backing a vehicle on the highway. Steven Wenberg of Sioux City charged with failure to have control on a curve resulting in an accident.
A license was issued to David Paul Peterson 31 Sheldon and Gladys Marie Swanson 36 Le Mars. Also authorized Weldon Eugene Ohlendorf Jr. 28 Remsen and Marlys Clara Klein 20 Remsen.

Named liquor special agent Duane Lynch, 46, of Sioux City, joins Dennis Smith and Robert Williams as new agents in the Division of Beer and Liquor Law Enforcement under DPS Commissioner Michael M. Sellers. Lynch has 19 years as state patrol, postings include Atlantic and Greenfield, with Sioux City now as resident agent after training in Des Moines. The division is one of 11 within the Iowa Department of Public Safety, reorganized from the former liquor control commission on Jan. 1, 1972.
Gerald Wayne Mosser 21 of route 2 Hinton was charged in Sioux City district court with indecent behavior for exposing himself in public while nude He pleaded guilty and was fined 25 dollars plus costs or ordered to serve seven days in jail Mosser was arrested at Riverside park.
The owner of the horse killed in the Stanton township car incident last Saturday morning is John Kessenich. The animal wandered into an intersection and was struck by a car driven by 27 year old Mrs Dan Heuert Le Mars. The Monday Daily Sentinel had omitted the owner's name.
Cecil C Macklem 90 former James postmaster and general store operator died Wednesday at Plymouth Manor care center Le Mars He was born November 2 1882 in Cedar County and married Hannah Nicol in 1906 They farmed near Hartington Neb before moving to Iowa later serving as postmaster at James 1926 1932 He leaves three sons four daughters two sisters 19 grandchildren 26 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren The body was taken to Nelson Berger Northside funeral home
