Adolf A. Berle, Columbia Law professor emeritus, tells New York school superintendents that nations must proclaim lofty ideals beyond present realization. He says history records painful attempts to reach higher goals and that youth often overreact, discarding valuable teachings in the process.
Dr. Don Meyler of Le Mars, chair of District No. 1 of the Iowa Chiropractic Education bureau, says Medicare omits chiropractic care, discriminating against thousands of Iowa seniors. He leads a push to add chiropractic services to Medicare nationwide, stressing the need to preserve a free choice of doctor for aging patients across back conditions and mobility risks. District No. 1 covers Lyon, Sioux, Plymouth, Woodbury, Osceola, O'Brien, Cherokee, Ida, Buena Vista, Clay, Dickerson, Emmet, Palo Alto, and Pocahontas counties.

At the Plymouth County Fair last Sunday night 97 horses and riders from a three state area competed in eight 4 H FFA classes and six open classes. Debbie Bye won the senior high point all around championship, while Martie Moorhead took the junior division. Showmanship at halter senior winner Michele Moeller with Debbie Bye second and Colleen Zimmerman third. Other top placers include Bruce Kramer Pat Featherston and Jo Ann Rolling in various showmanship and horsemanship divisions. Pole bending and Cloverleaf barrels saw Debbie Bye Colleen Zimmerman and Wayne Beitelspacher among the top finishers. Reigning 4 H pattern winner Debbie Bye led, followed by Pat Featherston and Ron Zimmerman. Trail class top honors went to Kathy Taylor Lucinda Becker and Gary Bohlke. Separate driving offense notes include suspension for Joseph W Geary and 120 day revocation for James J Higgins Jr. High school journalism workshop attendees noted from four states at Iowa State University. Le Mars Rotary will send Club president Harold Brady and past district governor Golden Thompson to welcome Rotary International president James F. Conway on Jim Conway day in Pierre South Dakota. The visit includes tours, a no host lunch, an afternoon tea, and a Riggs high school banquet with Governor Frank Farrar delivering remarks.
