Schleef resigns as Cherokee county sheriff
Carl Schleef ends two decades as Cherokee county sheriff after arresting three liquor violators. He resigns to become juvenile probation officer for the county, a full time post. Bud Stroud, deputy for four years, is appointed to succeed him with effective Sept 1. He is 42, a Quimby native now in Cherokee with wife Doris and daughter Pam.

The Iowa Good Roads Assn reports HF 76 introduced by Rep. Gordon Stokes of Le Mars passed the house 85 to 2 on April 28 but failed in the senate.
