Federal Land Bank Association of Sioux City reports 439800 in new loans for January through June 1961, up from 408400 in same period 1960. Delinquencies near record lows at 2.1 percent of 800 member borrowers on June 30, with 3.5 percent a year ago.

Mrs Peter Wagner of Wall Lake celebrated her 59th birthday while residing with husband in a Carrall nursing home for seven years.
A 950-pound white faced hereford shown by Douglas Simons, 14, Marcus, was named grand champion at the Cherokee county fair. The reserve champion, a black angus shown by 16 year old Mary Cronin of Remsen, highlighted the three day fair which closed Saturday.
Ruth Reid of Wichita Kansas will move to Le Mars to supervise Memorial Hall and host Weidler Hall at Westmar College. She brings five years university experience and has been a church teacher and active in scouting and Parent Teacher Association welfare work. In the same Hawarden area a tractor accident injured Clarence Lee 14 and bruised his lung, with two sisters Mary Ann 7 and Joyce Eileen 5 riding in a trailer. Mary Ann bruised a leg while Joyce Eileen escaped injury. Clarence remained hospitalized until Sunday.
Anna Riemenschneider of Kingsley and Carl Reinbold of Cherokee wed in a Catholic church ceremony on Aug 1. Attended by L P Schimmer of Kingsley. A wedding dinner followed at Speciman’s Cafe in Cherokee before a week long trip to Minnesota. They will reside in Cherokee after returning.

Hawarden flying club suffered heavy damage to a pilotless craft after it wrapped around a windsock pole at the local airport last Thursday. Cal Smith reportedly pulled the throttle too far while attempting to start the smaller club plane. The engine started as he cranked from the rear and he tried to grab a wing to stop it but failed, and the craft halted only by the windsock pole.

Regular meeting of the Grant Clover Clovers on July 17 at Ireton fixed the float for the Diamond Jubilee. Members discussed fair entries and spent the evening working on the float. Lunch was served by leaders with Betty Janssen as reporter.
Thirteen year old Max Jones of Toledo suffered a deep gash in his foot while wading in a nearby farm pond. The injury will require him to be on crutches.
