Longhorn Steers to Pull Wagon at Plymouth County Fair
Two long horn steers trained to pull a wagon will be a special attraction at the Plymouth county fair. Owners are Chuck Wiley of Le Mars and Cal Mouw of Sioux Center with Mouw acting as trainer. Wiley traded several Angus cattle for the longhorns years ago from a Texas ranch.

Life's end Mrs George Rickleffs of Ireton dead
Funeral services for Mrs George H Rickleffs 73 were held at St Paul Lutheran Ireton. She died July 28 in a Hawarden nursing home after months of illness. Born May 18 1693 at Alcester she married George Rickleffs May 2 1912. They lived in Alcester Treton and Bettendorf before returning to Treton. Survivors include her husband two daughters three sons 19 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren plus siblings and step relatives.

IPS foreman Bob Hall to retire after 35 years service
Bob Hall, a general construction foreman for Iowa Public Service, covering Le Mars Carroll Humboldt and Cherokee districts, retires this month after 35 years with IPS. He has lived in Cherokee since 1947 and officially retires August 31, having already taken six weeks of accumulated vacation beginning July 25.

Homemaking FHA Girls Move to New Fairgrounds Building
The three school FHA and homemaking groups relocate to the north section of the girls 4-H building due to growing enrollment. Volunteers plan shifts for fair duties with 250 fairbooks mailed.
