Akron airman in Vietnam serves in Pacific air forces
AIRMAN 1C CHARLES D. KELLER, son of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer E. Keller of 427 Sixth Ave SE, is now in Vietnam in the fight against Communist aggression. He is a jet aircraft mechanic in the Pacific air forces providing air power for the United States and its allies in the Pacific Far East and Southeast Asia. He is a graduate of Akron High School. his wife is the former Sharon R. Schulz. The orchid is the largest flowering plant family, with 15,000 to 30,000 species. Orchids vary from 4 inches to 20 feet in height and are found worldwide except polar regions.
Hawarden Boy Tommy Struck by Car In June Report
Hawarden police disclosed that Tommy gravely injured June 23 by a car sustained his injuries when hit by an automobile. Witnesses saw the collision and police chief Mel Hulleman said no persons were involved beyond the driver. First Pet Food Consumers Dogs in England first fed on commercial pet food a century ago. Wachter, Former Sioux City Resident, Dies at 78
Gottlob Gus Wachter 78 of Sioux City died Friday after a brief illness. Funeral services were held Monday at Nelson-Berger Northside with Rev. Donovan Benson officiating. Masonic rites followed at Morgan township cemetery Schleswig. He was born January 3 1888 in Germany and moved to Le Mars in 1922 and Sioux City in 1992. He married Meta Hansen in 1939 and worked for Concrete Pipe Machinery Co. until retirement in 1960. He belonged to Trinity Lutheran church Eagles Landmark Lodge 103 AF&AM Scottish Rite Abu Bekr Shrine and is survived by his widow a brother William in Germany and several nieces and nephews.

Stephen Kennedy 16, son of L. J. Kennedy near Hinton, won first in region 1 Soil Conservation speech contest at the Biltmore in Sioux City on Water Conservation Vital to All. He earned $25 and a chance to compete in the state contest Sept. 18 at Cedar Rapids. Second was Sally Jo Bendlin 16 of Sutherland with $15. Gregg Larsen 16 of Le Mars was third with $10.
