Four conventions today in LeMars stir political activity with all parties holding county and supervisor meetings. Democrats meet at the courthouse this afternoon and Republicans at the opera house, with no clear opposition to several incumbent or prospective candidates for sheriff treasurer and other offices. In republican ranks J M Wormly and Ek D Chassell contend for legislature seats, W T Reemer and F K Veal for treasurer, J W Meyer likely to seek reelection as surveyor, and debates over county superintendent coroner and supervisor posts continue as candidates vie for official nominations.

J M Wormly a candidate for the legislature from Kingsley met L Conklin M D Gates and J A Beardsly in Le Mars on Tuesday evening to assess opposition backed by placing 19 B Chassell in the field. Wormly reaffirmed his intent to stay in the race and enter the convention. Wormly’s supporters say he was not informed by the conferees about the Chassell move until after it occurred.
Delegates chosen by Republicans in LeMars wards were announced Friday evening. First ward selections include Struble, Clarke, Martin, Hazlett, Haas, Jones, Remer. Second ward delegates list Theilman, Samus, Boland, Roseberry, Cooper, Kijatle, Cole. Third ward picks include Molampy, Perkins, Carpenter, Morehouse, Glezen, Love, Pageler, Adamson, Smaith. Miss Maggie Gorman and P H Ahern visited the Hayden home near Leeds last week. Mrs F Montague and daughter Cora of Jefferson S D visited with Frank Montague and family. Mr and Mrs J J Mansfield of Westfield township visited Thos Clarey’s home. Miss Anna Gorman and Neal Flynn visited Philip Garvey’s home. Thos Clary moved to Sioux City for a future home. Joan Osterkamp helps F W Montague this week. D M Baker to move into his new house. Ladies aid met Mrs J E Burkett and $3.50 was collected. Miss Georgia Crotty visited A F Carpenter’s home several days last week.
Michael Faber of Remsen died in Sioux City on Wednesday at age 68 after a period of ill health. He had been hospitalized for treatment about a week and his remains were taken back to Remsen for interment. An old resident of Remsen he was well known in Plymouth County.
Congregational Church invites all not regularly worshipping elsewhere to attend. Pastor L G Kent continues his series with tonight's address on Enduring as Seeing Him who is Invisible, following last Sunday's topic Sin and How to Keep From Committing It.
John Weidenfeller who has run the Farmers Home hotel on Clark Street has leased the John Wilters hotel on Eagle Street and will take possession on October 1. He previously leased the Farmers Home from the new owner until April 1 and will operate both hotels until his lease ends. Mr Wilters will lease a house, move his family, settle business affairs, and then travel to Europe to visit his former home scenes.
