The Iowa Highway commission’s traffic weight division shows a steady rise in summonses issued to truckers over 27 years from 8,320 in 1941 to 26,527 in 1968, totaling nearly 400,000 in this period. For the year ending June 30, 23,000 weight violations and 2,870 dimensional violations were cited, raising $871,620 in fines, court costs, and registrations.
Gordon L. Mennen of Le Mars Plymouth county reports August sales of series E and H savings bonds and freedom shares totaled 20,163 dollars. The eight month total reaches 287,528 dollars, achieving 63 percent of the 1969 quota for the county.
